KEITH - UP IN THE CLOUDS / SINGLE LAUNCH
25.08.08
Keith are back! and as wonderful as ever. To prove it - here's
a still from the video shoot to their forthcoming single "Up
In The Clouds" which itself will be the first taste of
their astonishing new album "Vice & Virtue".

Built on a rumbling bass groove, "Up In The Clouds"
bursts with attitude and swagger, a squall of scattergun riffs
and double-quick drums broken by a jazz break that acts as the eye
of the storm. You're gonna love it! We'll have the video and audio
up on their myspace in a week (or so).
The single is scheduled for October 27. We "launch"
the single with a headline show at Manchester's finest venue The
Deaf Institute on October 6. This is a Lucky Number promoted
night as part of Manchester's "In The City" music
event. There's going to be special guests a plenty - more soon.
KEITH - AN(OTHER) UPDATE
14.11.07
Keith are close to finishing their new album
with the world' s busiest producer Mr Dan. Whilst
waiting for Dan to finish mixing the Hot Chip record they have been
keeping themselves busy doing what the best bands do - writing,
gigging, writing and ummmm gigging. The legendary Can
singer Kenji " Damo" Susuki has also
personally asked Johnny to play in his band at a forthcoming Liverpool
show. Damo isn' t the first to recognise that Johnny is one of the
countries finest drummers but it' s certainly a dream come true
for Johnny who undoubtedly knows every beat on " Ege Bamyasi"
. Their last Manchester gig in early October was reviewed by Music
Dash thus:
"It didn' t take long for Keith to look every inch the
budding megastars on Sankey' s small stage, as their piano-led indie-blues
went from being a perky Cold War Kids affair to lifting the roof
off the venue and throwing it up at least half a mile. With an unfaltering
stare and a voice that oozed a modern psychedelic drawl, Oli wandered
from his keyboard onto podiums, twisting the mic lead around his
fingers like a cabaret star or beating a drum in a mad frenzy. By
the third song their crowd were in raptures, reaching out as if
the Bay City Rollers were in town, and it was not
undeserved. Keith gave a performance that sealed their already recognised
live reputation, showcasing a new rock' n' roll maturity, spiced
with electro and devilish piano…..with no shortage of volunteers
to worry security during the (closing) Stooges-rivalling stage invasion".
Well we were there and, whilst we' re not too sure about the
Cold War Kids reference, the Bay City Rollers comparison is bang
on - it was pure adulation! Don' t believe us?
to see some YouTube footage of the gig (fast forward to 1 mins 30
secs or so and then there' s 3 minutes of live footage interspersed
with a backstage interview containing the classic Keith standard
question " so why Keith then?" . For once though Oli gives
the real reason!
KEITH - LIVE DATES AND RECORDING
15.08.07
In between the final recording sessions for their awesome second
album Keith are taking a short time-out to play a couple of live
dates in Manchester. The band will be playing The
Good Neighbourhood at The Royal Oak, Chorlton on the 7th
Sept and then The Aftershow at Sankeys on 4th
October. We' re expecting The Aftershow night to sell-out
so make sure you get your tickets early - details here.
KEITH - VAIONATION / CHANNEL M / RECORDING / KEITH UNITED
2007
Keith are being promoted by a new community website
called Vaionation.
The band have created some tour videos from Japan and UK, some in-the-studio
footage and an exclusive track called " Maintain Your Health"
as part of the launch. The videos are sometimes funny, sometimes
odd but always entertaining - please check them out using the link
above and give them a rating.
The band also recorded a special gig for Channel
M in Manchester. Alongside old favourites from Red
Thread, there are also some tracks that will be on their next album
as well.
In regards to their follow up to Red Thread, the band are currently
writing and recording and the album will come out early 2008 but
should be preceded by an EP later this year. Will let you know as
soon as we do.
Finally, the band are delighted that their favourite Scottish
football team KEITH UNITED finished top in the
Scottish ADS Highland league this year. They are looking in
to securing a sponsorship contract for next season. The future's
bright, the future's KEITH.
hAPPY NEW YEAR AND END OF YEAR CHARTS AND KEITH
2007
Happy New Year to one and all, Seven is our
Lucky Number so we' ve got a feeling it' s going
to be a good year for the label and…..so far so good.
Thanks to the wonderful Rough
Trade record shop for choosing Sebastien Tellier'
s "Universe" album as the 45th best album of
the year in its highly-regarded Top 100 run-down for 2007.. Thanks
also to our favourite download store TuneTribe
for making Keith' s " Red Thread" their
52nd, and Sebastien' s "Universe" their 59th, best albums
of the year respectively.
Finally, the Japanese magazine Snoozer (think
an intelligent version of NME in magazine format) voted Keith' s
album (drum roll………….) the 14th
best of 2007 - which is quite amazing really.
Here's looking forward to hopefully making the charts again next
year with the new albums from both.
Finally, please don' t forget Keith' s "Hold That
Gun" single is released on February 19th - the video
is uploaded here on the site. Taken from the " first
must buy record of the year" (5 out of 5 - Sunday Telegraph
07.01.07) it comes backed with new track " No Solemn Quest"
which isn' t on the album and is frankly superb.
KEITH - NEW LIMITED SINGLE / JAPAN
2007
Keith will be releasing the third, and final, single from "
Red Thread" on February 19th, 2007. The single is " Hold
That Gun" which will be familiar to all of the Keith fans reading
this as the original James Ford produced version was included as
part of Keith' s limited debut EP release back in May 2005 and is,
of course, also on album.
This will however be the first time we have taken the track to
press, radio, online and TV and you can see the great video in our
tunes and videos section of the site. For the original fans who
had the good-taste and fore-sight to purchase the EP back in the
day, please note the single will be limited to just 1,000 copies
world-wide (just to ensure we lose money on it so you can' t accuse
us of opportunism) and that the new recording of Hold That Gun comes
backed with a fantastic brand new song called " No Solemn Quest".
Keith will also be travelling once again to the Land of the Rising
Sun next week to play 3 dates on the highly prestigious HMV backed
British Anthems tour. We' re hoping to take along a camcorder to
film some backstage and onstage footage which we' ll put on You-Tube
- we'll let you know.
