Darwin Deez – Say It First Video

After recently releasing his fourth studio album, Darwin Deez today shares his first self-directed music video for his latest single, “Say It First”. It’s another incredibly clever addition to his existing catalogue of renowned and highly original videos. Darwin himself says:

“My favourite music video ideas are usually ripped off from 90’s feature films. My video for Free (The Editorial Me) developed from my idea to rip off Groundhog Day. This one didn’t directly come from Multiplicity but it’s similar. Guy clones self to deal with romance, hijinks ensue. I wrote and self-directed for the first time, and I also did the edit. My cousin shot it and hooked us up with the producer Molly who made it all happen.”

Watch the new video below, and also make sure to check out the recently released House Show Tour documentary HERE. The album, entitled 10 Songs That Happened When You Left Me With My Stupid Heart, is out now buy it HERE.

Darwin Deez - The House Show Tour

In the Summer of 2017, having just delivered final mixes of his new album and faced with a period of downtime, Darwin reached out to his Twitter followers, tweeting an offer to play fans homes / garages / basements / whatever for $160, just to see what would happen.

The result was a full fan to artist directly organised DIY tour across the US, with two of his band mates, playing both new songs and fan favourites. At the first show on the tour Darwin met Eric, from Sound It Out Films, who was sold by the romance of the idea and offered to document the remaining dates, from the genuinely humiliating lows to the triumphant highs.  It’s a must watch!

Darwin Deez – The Mess She Made Video

Darwin Deez is about to head out on a month-long North American tour next week in support of his third album Double Down, and today he shares the music video for  “The Mess She Made.” Another incredibly clever addition to his existing catalogue of highly original music videos, “The Mess She Made” works Darwin right into the proverbial ‘money shot’ as director Oscar Hudson – in a clear labor of hand-made love – fits international bank notes and bills to fit Darwin’s curly-haired, head banded face. Quite fittingly, Wall Street Journal has the exclusive premiere of the money-themed video.

Darwin Deez – Time Machine

ddsmall2

Indie-pop renaissance man and musical DIY-er Darwin Deez will release his third full-length record entitled Double Down this Autumn, and he has just premiered the album’s catchy-as-hell second single “Time Machine” as Zane Lowe’s “World Record” on Beats 1. To celebrate the release of his new song, Darwin has announced a US tour and also added further shows to his European tour including London’s Islington Assembly Hall on October 27.  Tickets are on sale now for all shows.

Time Machine” is an exciting dance floor-ready tune with the most ridiculous fret-board crawling bassline, but on closer listen tells the tale of a strained friendship. “I don’t like having enemies or being on bad terms with people,” Darwin Deez explains. “But an old friend of mine is keeping me at a distance. I really prefer to talk these kind of things out, but some people just don’t. That’s what inspired the words to “Time Machine” – wanting to hurry up, get past the bitterness and on to the reunion. “

Double Down will be released on September 18th. Recorded, performed, mixed and mastered entirely by Darwin in his 6-floor Williamsburg walk-up, Double Down is a vibrant slice of pure pop perfection, and a beautifully balanced representation of Darwin’s rich and varied catalogue; his finest record to date.
