Hinds – Coffee

Hinds today return with a glorious bang sharing “Coffee”, their first new single in 4 years. It also marks the band’s first release as the original duo of Carlotta Cosials and Ana Perrote since they burst onto the scene in 2014 with debut single, “Bamboo”, and heralds a fresh and invigorated era, now signed to Lucky Number worldwide.

Everything that makes the Spanish band so beloved and acclaimed is on full display on “Coffee”. Produced by Pete Robertson (The Vaccines, beabadoobee) and mixed by the Grammy-winning engineer Caesar Edmunds (The Killers, Wet Leg), it features the signature dual vocals of Carlotta and Ana and doubles down on what is so special about Hinds – the bright melodies betraying universal themes, delivered with an empowering, punk attitude. The band have always represented the strength of female musicianship and friendship, inspiring a generation of young listeners and new artists as a result. Hinds say: “Coffee is a sincericide, screaming the nasty truth as loud as you can with no shame. It’s about admitting to all the things you’re not supposed to like or doing all the things you’re not meant to do. It’s a lot of fun when you can be fully honest and shut that little voice in your head that tells you what you should or shouldn’t do.

The energy at a Hinds show is always palpable, and they kicked off 2024 playing several UK shows for Independent Venue Week, with further gigs now added in May for London, Brighton, Paris, Munich and Berlin, all dates and tickets here. The duo are also set to play SXSW 2024 in March, alongside two sold-out shows at Baby’s All Right in New York. With “Coffee” just the start of an energised new chapter for Hinds, expect to hear much more in the coming months.

Hinds – Burn

Hinds released their glorious and triumphant third album, The Prettiest Curse, last month  to widespread critical acclaim and now share the video for bombastic album track “Burn” . Directed by Mariano Schoendorff, it was filmed remotely as Madrid finally began to slowly ease out of lockdown.

Hinds – Just Like Kids (Miau)

All female force Hinds have shared their new single “Just Like Kids (Miau)” (meow in English) from their forthcoming third album, The Prettiest Curse, out June 5th.

The Madrid-based quartet snarl at the hilarious comments they’ve received over the years with lyrical wit on this new track. Their sound, just like their response, is untamed and fierce – a song that showcases the bands huge, uncompromised personality. The 90s inspired, all bold and eye-popping video directed by Keane Shaw perfectly captures Ana, Carlotta, Ade and Amber’s fun energy no matter how hideous the remark. Watch below!

Hinds - Just Like Kids (Miau)

Miau is a cocktail of all the comments and “advice” we’ve had to listen to during all this years in the band.  From random strangers, “friends”, and  industry.  Oh wait…the guy sitting next to you in the bus probably has an opinion too!  If you wondered how does it feel to be a girl in a band, here you go.

Hinds – The Prettiest Curse & Good Bad Times

Today Hinds announce their return with a glorious bang, as they launch their third album The Prettiest Curse (out April 3rd) and share “Good Bad Times”, their most anthemic single to date.

Hinds - Good Bad Times

With The Prettiest Curse Hinds shrug off any remaining lo-fi accusations and unveil a dizzyingly widescreen beast of an album, not so much a shift as a quantum leap in their evolution as a band. This is a record positively bursting with life, with the band finally harnessing the full extent of their pop prowess and unleashing songs which sound bigger, bolder, and more complex than anything they have done before. Which isn’t to say they have turned their backs on “being Hinds” – quite the opposite in fact! Here, they double down on what, precisely, makes them so special – the bright melodies betraying heart-breaking themes of isolation and betrayal, the empowering, don’t mess with us all-girl gang glow – while going even further. For the first time, they prominently sing in their native tongue, plus on the artwork they work with a childhood hero, the Spanish photographer Ouka Leele with magical results. You know how people say that a drop of balsamic vinegar makes strawberries taste more strawberry-ish? Well, On “The Prettiest Curse”, Hinds sound even more Hinds-ish, and the results are marvellous.

The Prettiest Curse is available for pre-order now.

Hinds – Riding Solo & video

Madrid 4-piece Hinds – Carlotta Cosials, Ana Perrotte, Ade Martin and Amber Grimbergen – return with ‘Riding Solo’, a raucously energising first bite from their forthcoming third album. Produced by Jenn Decilveo (Bat for Lashes, Anne-Marie) in New York, the new track stays true to Hinds’ brazen attitude, but spins it off into a bold, brave new direction for the band, complete with gloriously distorted vocals and ridiculously infectious choruses with delicious echoes of “Paper Planes”.

This tantalising first track points to a thrillingly diverse third album, but at heart, the band remain true to themselves, writing deeply personal lyrics about their trials and tribulations that somehow manage to sound universal as well.

“feeling lonely is one of the most common human feelings, right ? well, being a musician doesn’t really help. your whole life is constantly moving and the only thing that remains is yourself.  and dealing with yourself, oh gosh, we all know how boring and angering that can be. riding solo is about this. about us. perpetually on the move, being everywhere and nowhere at the same time. surrounded by strangers most time of the day, being 9 hours time difference from our people and what we call home, living and dying por y para la música”

Watch the beautifully choreographed, desert-shot video directed by Keane Shaw below, which oozes style and bravado in equal measure.
