FTSE: This Is Life

FTSE will release new single ‘This Is Life’ on 25th September 2015, through Lucky Number, taken from anticipated debut album ‘Joyless’, out on 28th August 2015.

‘This Is Life’ is a record that comes from “an estate state of mind”, and is a seminally contemporary and British slant on hip-hop, speaking with the voice of the disenfranchised through a filter of surreal sound collages and sarcastic off-the-cuff humour.

‘This Is Life’ follows the release of FTSE’s tongue in cheek examination of what is arguably our largest export – the loved and loathed “Lads on Tour”. Manville caused a swathe of mixed reactions when he posted his ‘Brits Abroad’ video last week: https://youtu.be/lZGm9i_v2bo

FTSE is Midlander Sam Manville’s producer-artist-polemical guise, where he plays everything and underlines his unique production with a deeply personal and idiosyncratic political voice, ‘JOYLESS’ follows a trio of well received EP’s – FTSE I, FTSE II and Love Un Ltd, and combines the vehement punk thrashes of the music of his youth and his free-flowing social analytics with a more soothing, often ironic, tone which has created a fearlessly bold statement for a debut album.

As a writer and producer Sam has recently been working with artists as varied as Bipolar Sunshine, Becky Hill, MNEK, Huntar, Tom Aspaul, Gavin James and Biffy Clyro’s recent Zane Lowe-presented ‘Drive’ re-imagination. Not to mention also finding time to form and front Get Hot, the hardcore collaborative project with fellow established electronic producer Jakwob.

FTSE, with full band, will play a special hometown Leicester show at Firebug on 1st August – featuring Jakwob, Gaika (DJ Set), Madam X (Radio 1 Xtra), Tyler Clacey & more, and at Reading/Leeds Festival, Radio 1Xtra Stage on August Bank holiday
