Brandon Can’t Dance – Angelina

Fresh off the back of his recent US tour with Alex G and LVL UP, Brandon Can’t Dance today shares “Angelina”, the new single from his forthcoming physical debut album Graveyard of Good Times.

“Angelina” is a straight shot of vitriol, all grizzled, grumbling guitars and haunting lyrics. Entirely self-recorded and produced, Brandon’s music is unique and diverse, and this song converges at the point where his songwriting melds the sombre tones of Elliott Smith with strains of ‘90s Sub Pop-inflected grunge.

Brandon says that the song is “about a girl own her own doing her best to deal with severe depression during a period where her friends are starting families and careers. I drew from southern gothic writings and tried to bring that out in the music itself.

A truly diverse collection of songs from one of America’s most compelling new songwriters, Graveyard of Good Times is as cathartic and melancholic as it is sardonic and playful.

Dream Wife – FUU

Dream Wife  have today released new track ‘FUU’ featuring a guest rap appearance from Fever Dream (ex-Reykjavíkurdætur).’FUU’ is a raucous ball of energetic and grizzled guitar licks positioned against an aggressive mantra of retribution in the form of irresistibly anthemic lyrics. Premiering on i-D you can stream now.

In addition, Dream Wife announce that they are to headline Huw Stephen’s Presents 10TH Birthday at The Social in London on November 8th (FREE entry).   The Huw Stephens event follows hot on the heels of the bands UK tour with Black Honey, and their appearances at Simple Things and SWN festivals. Dream Wife are also set to play a very special, SOLD OUT, Halloween headline show at London’s Moth Club this coming Monday.

Sleigh Bells – I Can Only Stare Video

Sleigh Bells have today shared a stunning video for their forthcoming single, “I Can Only Stare”, the music video directorial debut from the independent filmmaker Alex Ross Perry (Listen Up Philip / Queen Of Earth) along with the band’s Derek Miller.

Derek  said the following about the collaboration:
“The video follows three doomed women, all played by Alexis. It’s bleak but hopefully inspiring, too. Most of us have probably felt like one or all three of these characters at some point in time. I know I have. Making this was cathartic.

We had the privilege of working with Alex Ross Perry, one of my favorite young writer/directors, Sean Price Williams (badass Director of Photography) and a really, really great crew. Alex’s last film, Queen of Earth, was one of my favorites of 2015. There’s a tense, ominous quality to it which I hoped he would bring to the video. He did. His decision to shoot on Super 16mm film helped avoid the slick crispness we had grown tired of with digital cameras. It was a great experience. And a huge debt is owed to Robert Richardson, my favorite cinematographer. We ripped Mr. Richardson off big time for the rear projection screen performance footage.”

“I Can Only Stare” is the latest offering from forthcoming album, Jessica Rabbit, set for release on November 11th 2016.

The band have also been invited to perform for the first time on BBC2’s Later… With Jools Holland on 1st and 4th November 2016.
