FTSE – Lost In Translation (ft.Femme)

Lucky060D

“…essentially Jarvis Cocker in Burial’s body, or Drake if he came from the Midlands not Ontario.” The Guardian

Ahead of the release of FTSE II EP, FTSE (pronounced ‘footsie’) shares new track ‘Lost In Translation’, as premiered on FADER.

‘Lost In Translation’ is exceptional in every way. A simple arpeggio fades up, like the solar energy of daybreak, and featured co-vocalist, Femme, emits an angelic coo like cotton wool before a penetrating break of snares cracks through the ether and an equally engaging baritone propels the post-club narrative. “Never again, until next weekend. I just gotta get some sleep and I’ll be fine” the key message that alternates, always hopefully, between remorse and revelation.

Having made his live debut supporting AlunaGeorge in London in June, FTSE returns to headline Corsica Studios on the 25th of September. Details and tickets : HERE

Caged Animals – Too Much Dark Video

We are delighted to present to you the video for Caged Animals ‘Too Much Dark’, directed by Tobias Stretch.

Stretch leads us through a series of mirrored events via an unlikely friendship struck between a disfigured old-man and a little boy. It’s an abstract journey, which strikes a powerfully emotional chord with the song’s existential themes.

While both characters appear to lead lives without companionship, they find solace in each other, as they explore their shared Philadelphia neighbourhood. Plagued by the same anguish, it’s easy for this pair to empathize and enjoy each other’s company: chased from scene to scene by a glowing green jellyfish, their affinity for one another grows, as they learn to understand what the jellyfish has come for.

‘Too Much Dark’ is the opening track from the forthcoming album ‘In The Land Of Giants’, to be released September 2nd.

Friends – The Way

……and so comes, ‘The Way’, from the now super-distilled 3-piece Friends. Recorded in NYC, June 2013, with a helping hand from Devonté Hynes and Joey Postiglione, ‘The Way’ is the band’s first new recorded music aired since the release of their debut album ‘Manifest!’ in June 2012.

Never afraid to surprise, this time Friends take a turn down an overtly ‘80’s power ballad highway, concocting an anthem that would dominate the erection section of any roller disco worth it’s cherry red wheel lube. A relentlessly sexy groove, whiplash snares, sensually breathless vocals and effortlessly egotistical guitars that clearly aspire to the romanticism, indulgence, and prowess for inspiring baby-making of Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ lock down from start to finish.
