Darwin Deez – CMJ Action

Darwin performed at the NME showcase at this weeks CMJ event in New York.   Jaimie Hodgson of the NME captured parts of Darwins performance on his camera phone, interviewed Darwin after the show, and posted all on his blog at NME.com today. Catch it here.

Keith – Threes EP

Following the completion, and release, of the Vice & Virtue album Keith set themselves up in Salford’s Sacred Trinity Church, with the aim to produce a series of extra tracks with a warm, organic feel that’s at odds with the electronic album.   The resulting recordings are collected upon the Threes EP, which is officially released today and is sadly to be the last release by the band, as the foursome have decided to close the chapter on Keith (for now).

More info on the release can be found here.

It’s a truly wonderful and moving EP, and it is a fitting footnote to the career of one of the most furiously creative, but criminally under-rated, bands in the UK.

Darwin Deez

We’re delighted to be releasing the debut single from a new artist called Darwin Deez.  He’s amazing. He’s getting a lot of people in the industry very excited. We’re releasing the single on December 7th – there will only be 500 copies. More details and a pre-order link to follow. The A side is called “Constellations”. It is a nigh-on untouchable mini-pop classic, rolling together beats, guitars, handclaps, and a childlike sense of awe (“if freckles don’t mean anything, does anything mean anything?”) into a fizzing ball and kicking it high into the air.  You can hear it here. Enjoy!

Soundtrack Action

Soundtracks are like buses, you wait for ages then two come along at once.

Gotye’s Learnalilgivinanlovin has been included within the film and on the soundtrack of the new Drew Barrymore directorial debut Whip It.  The film stars Ellen (Juno) Page as Bliss, a rebellious Texas teen who throws in her small town beauty pagent crown for the world of roller derby.  It’s received fantastic reviews across the board on its release in the US.  Coming everywhere else soon.  Here’s the trailer.

Additionally, Seventeen Evergreen’s Lunar One has been included within the film and soundtrack of the new Vanessa (High School Musical) Hudgen’s film BandslamHere’s that trailer.
